About

Hagfish is a small publisher that reissues out-of-print, hard-to-find books and introduces overlooked contemporary writers to the mainstream. It is also an agency specializing in collaborations with literary estates.

Our publishing is supported by our studio of the same name, which offers a full range of editing services to writers at all stages of their career and practice, and from all backgrounds and experiences. We are completely independent, self-funded, and worker-owned. We are based in Brooklyn, New York.
